Potentially the Worst Day of My Life

I don't mean that in any sort of sarcastic or comical manner. I am being serious. Before I begin, I'm going to ask that you all pray for my nephew Aiden (the reason will follow).

Steve Irwin, whom many of you may know as the "Crocodile Hunter" was tragically killed yesterday. A large stingray was what got him. It pierced his heart and killed him seconds later. My family finds it hard to believe that I could care so much about his death, but he was one of my heroes in life. I won't say much more other than he was taken much too soon, but God knows what he's doing.

Second, Miami lost last night. It may seem rather "sick" of me to include this into my bad day, but I love Miami football. It may seem shallow of me to blame it on one guy. However, Miami's quarterback cost them the game. He does not belong as the starting quarterback. Granted, I couldn't go out there and do any better. In fact, I play armchair QB. But he does stink.

Lastly, my nephew Aiden. Yesterday, he had a "pimple" on his leg. So his mom popped it; green stuff oozed out of the sore. She didn't think anything of it (don't say anything I already know what you're going to say). So, he developed a large purple circle around the sore a few hours later. Off to the ER, he went. When he got there, the doctors diagnosed it cellulitis. So, within two hours, they had to send him to surgery. After an hour in surgery or so, they came out to tell us they had taken a 3 in. x 3 in. section of muscle from his leg. And that the purple spot was dead tissue. So, they closed him up and sent him upstairs. Today, they are going to open his leg back up and clean it again. So, I'm asking that you all pray for him. He's only a year old and just celebrated his 1st birthday on Sunday.

Oh my goodness. After what I went through last week with my own son, my heart goes out to Aiden's mom & family. I hope he gets better soon. When can he come home?? What exactly is cellulitis? Keep us posted.
