Well my first week at work is over. All I can say is: I'm tired. Manual Labor isn't too bad but the 4:30 wake-ups are. I figure I'll describe my job and where I work.

I work at LTV mine. Not mining; rather, tearing it down. But I don't do the cutting or tearing. I move the metal the cutters cut. I clean the shop yard. I shovel rock, move chain, warn others of impending doom and occassionally pound the living crap out of stuff with sledge-hammers for fun. (In fact, that's been the funnest part of work.) I also seem to spend most of my time taking 100+ lb. pieces of metal and moving into bins on the other side of the yard. It's not too bad, in fact, the worst part of work is the piece of burnt bacon I call a nose. Well, if anyone has anymore questions: direct all questions to my secretary . . . name pending.

Good News Everybody!

So I have a summer job. I am going to work with my dad. Manual Labor, that's my new title. I think it's Hispanic in origin. However it works out, I'm making $8/hr. It's not much but it's better than $0/hr and watching Star Trek all day.

I got my grades for the semester. "A", "B", "C". The "A" is for Art-eest. The "B" is for Best curler "from Miami". The "C" is for Champion of leg pulling. The Best curler "from Miami" thing was a joke I played on some junior curlers. They asked if I was from Miami considering I wore all Miami shirts and hats. I told them "Yes! Why would I wear Miami stuff if I wasn't from Miami?" I am evil! "Leg pulling?" See last post.

Wow, it's been so long since I posted with sincerity in my words. Ok, so I've never posted sincerely. But it's okay because someday I will.

I am officially done with the semester! I took my last final today at 8. I was anxious to take it; I showed up 1/2 hour early ( It was not a fear-based anxiety. It was a "I want to get this over and done with" anxiety.) The teacher assumed it would take us an hour or so to finish it. Thirty-three minutes later: I turned in my well written and well thought-out short answer final.

How did I do? I am not expecting much in terms of grades. I didn't devote myself wholly to the class. I only read 2 pieces of literature through the semester. The first and the last; the alpha and omega; the beginning and the end ( to borrow biblical phrases). I didn't discuss much. In fact, I got through discussion by two means: silence and elaborating on what the others said. I wrote the papers, I presented Mark Twain, but I "forgot" to journal. Like I said earlier, I am not expecting to do well.

After the dust settles, I am going to go back and finish up my A.A. But as for now: It's time to drink Coke, watch softball, smell like bonfires, and most importantly, have fun! I look forward to the rest of you joinging me in Summer.

Quick Word

If you all have never listened to Gospel music, try it. It's awesome. I recommend Hezekiah Walker. I am a little biased though. His CD 20/85 Experience is awesome. Expand your repet'oire a little. It most certainly is great! My brothers* and I love the stuff. If you want to listen to it, just ask and I will hook you up!

*Note: By brothers, I am refering to my black brothers in Christ.

The End?

I don't have much to say. I am busy studying for my last final next Wednesday. I look forward to summer and dry weather.

Progress

I have been busy lately. Not just with making sure Morgenholt is safely dead. With stuff that "matters". I thought it'd be nice to share the progress of my final art project: a print.
This is the picture I started with. It's some citrus fruits. 2 blood oranges, 2 lemons, and a grapefruit.

This is the image enlarged and traced out on tracing paper. There is charcoal on the back so I can trace it out on to a piece of plexi-glass and masking tape.

This is the same image. I cut it out using an exacto-knife and "inked" it. I am ready to make the final print. And here it is:
I made some minor adjustments to the fruit. Instead of having 2 blood oranges,2 lemons and a grapefruit; I chose to have 1 lime, 1/2 lemon, 1 orange, 1 blood orange, and 1 ruby red grapefruit. So that's my last art project. This post serves no purpose other than to say I actually have some creativity.

A name

To my readers:
I chose a new name for my blog. I figure this new name will suit the writings a little more. I will not go into great detail about how I chose the new name. I will, however, say that the suggestions were lacking creativity. I apologize if this offends anyone who suggested a name. Well, I think I have a presentation to get ready for. So leave a me a message.

Your beloved writer,
Richard M. Nixon

(No Title)

Today is May 1st and Winter ended about a month ago. Yet, today when I was leaving the school I ran into a teacher from last semester talking to a student (the student who called me "f*#&^$! crazy in early March). I figured that since it is officially Spring here; the comments towards me and my shorts would subside. I was grossly disappointed. I greeted the teacher and he said "Still wearing shorts./? (I couldn't tell if he was asking me or telling me) I said my usual spiel of "Always and forever." As I was walking away I heard him say to the student who called me "f*#&^$! crazy" I was the "Bravest student in the school". The "polite student" agreed. I walked away baffled. I don't know if I am brave or if I am crazed. I still don't know. Perhaps I can seek my answer here. So these are the options.

1. I am Brave; and not crazed. I am one of David's mighty men.
2. I am Crazed. I also am a scared little boy and belong in France.
3. I am Braized. That means I am both brave and crazed (but more bravery than craze). I am also a method for cooking beef.
4. I am Crave; this is a combination of crazy and brave ( I lean a bit more towards crazy here). I also am desired by all. I know I am totally fly and hot but to sat I am desired by all may be a bit much.

So I will leave it to you to dictate to me. I wouldn't know where I'd fit without sounding arrogant. Get commenting, get your parents commenting, get your friends commenting. I still need more names for my blog.
